13. Be an Instacart shopper
Becoming an Instacart shopper can be an especially lucrative opportunity right now because some people are reluctant to go out due to the pandemics.
The philosophy of Instacart is simple. It is a grocery delivery service, and they require people to help their customers pick up groceries from stores and deliver them to their houses. There are two types of jobs available:
Full-service shopper
These are independent contractors that use the Instacart platform to shop and deliver orders for their customers. You most likely will need a car. It is like being an Uber/Lyft driver on steroid.
Benefits:
- It offers the most flexibility. You can work as little or as often as you want. The amount you earn, however, obviously is correlated with how much work you do. The earning depends on the number of items, type of items, driving distance, and effort involved in shopping and delivering.

If you are good at things like spreadsheet creation, graphic design, writing and coding, you should be able to find something suitable for you on the platform. There is a plethora of gigs on there. According to their site stats, a gig is bought every 4 seconds, which speaks to the volume of work available. Don’t be shy and try it out! 17. Be an Uber/Lyft driver
If you own a car and are in need of cash (maybe even to pay off the car itself!), this is a no-brainer. Sign up to be a driver, and earn some extra cash to help you go through whatever emergency situation you find yourself in. You may end up finding it to be an enjoyable side hustle, and may even consider doing it long-term as a great way to earn extra cash!
What if you don’t enjoy driving around with strangers inside your car? That’s not a problem. After you make the $1000 you really need, you can deactivate your account and never do it again!

18. Cut your expenses
Making 1000 extra dollars in a week not only relies on your willingness to work, it also relies on somebody else’s willingness to pay for your service or product. Cutting expenses, on the other hand, only involves you and your ability to live frugally and curb your desires. It may therefore be the easiest to accomplish in such a short period of time as one week.
Are there any discretionary expenses that you can cut from your budget? Some categories where you can find the most savings include:
- Vacation: You have time. Postpone it till a few months later.
- Food: Cook yourself for a week and use as many items you already have in your pantry as possible. Do a challenge for yourself; how little can you spend on food in a week (without completely destroying your health, obviously)?
- Housing: Are you living in too big of a space? Can you be happy with just a little less? Changing apartments may be difficult to accomplish within a week, but if you need to find extra $1,000 in a week fast, you really have to think hard about your current living situation.
- Transportation: Can you take public transit, or walk, for just a week? Your body may thank you for the extra exercises.
19. Sell stuff online
You may feel a bit sad selling your stuff online. However, if you need to make $1,000 fast, or if you have too much stuff at home that is cluttering up your space, this can be a great and lucrative way to generate some serious cash.
Over the years, I have successfully sold many of my used stuff on sites like Kijiji, Craigslist, ebay or Amazon. There are lots of people who are actively looking for stuff to buy on these sites. Often times, I can seal a deal within 24 hours. Here is a list of items that I have sold:
- Textbooks
- An old desktop
- A bookshelf
- A used desk
- Earphones
- A boxing punching bag
- My violin
- etc. etc
If you want to sell fashion products, Poshmark also may be a good choice for you. Keep in mind though, that you are there to earn extra money, not to buy more clothing and accessories!
If you do want to try this route, I recommend that you sell in public to protect yourself. In case something happens, you can ask for help more easily.
Of course, you can also host a garage sale!
20. Rent out your space or your car
This one is in the same vein as the suggestions above, in that you are generating some money using what you already have. Once you have it going, it is an easy way to make some passive income.
Consider getting a roommate for a few months.

If you have designer bags, clothings and accessories that are in reasonably good condition, you may consider selling them at your local consignment stores. Although the store owners may take a fairly sizeable cut at around 30 to 40%, they can help you sell your products at a much higher price and faster than what you may be able to do yourself. They even have professional photographers taking pictures of your products from different angles and selling them online through their storefront for you! This is a surefire way to find 1000 dollars in a week.

25. Be a body parts model
Have you always thought that you have to be a certain height and a certain figure to be a model? While that is still mostly true for fashion models (though the world is changing fast with the likes of Ashley Graham coming onto the scene), there is another genre of modeling you may be unfamiliar with. You can only model for a specific part of your body!
Body parts models are needed in consumer goods industry. Products requiring close-up shots, such as watches, hand creams, pantyhose, shoes, all need body parts models. The most commonly modeled body parts are feet, hands and legs.

Note that you must be careful with the agency you choose. Similar to traditional modeling, scams do exist, so do your research. This option may not be for everyone, but for people with good eyes or knowledge of a certain niche, it can be a very lucrative way to make some money, relatively easily. I personally know someone who flipped a $7 winter coat for almost $500 on ebay.
Although lucrative deals like that don’t come very often, if you browse your local Goodwill stores diligently for a few days, it is realistic to find one or two that you can buy for under $10 but sell for around $50. You most likely won’t be able to reach your 1000 dollar goal with this method alone, but it will for sure help you get closer to it.
34. Time your big purchase with sign up bonus of a credit card
This one may be a little bit opportunistic, but if the timing is right, it can really help you make money on the side. It is also a lot easier than winning the lottery for sure.
