Here are 10 tips to live your dream life.
All of us have dreams, aspirations or goals and those times we say “imagine if we could live a life like this”. It’s normal and it’s natural, and good to have something to aspire and work towards. A lot of us feel achieving our dreams isn’t realistic. This isn’t true in any sense. If you put your mind to something, you really can achieve and do anything.
Whether it’s saving for a house, travelling or being happier, here are my 10 tips on how to live your dream life.
Figure out what exactly are your goals and aspirations
The first step to living your dream life is realizing exactly what that dream life is. We all have different aspirations, goals and timelines when we’re ready to look and achieve those things. Whether you’re aspiring to get on the rental market, build a global business, go FIRE, travel the world, create a beautiful and happy family or get a promotion in your line of career, your goals are down to you.
Write a list of the goals you’re thinking about, the short-term, mid-term and long-term goals and it’ll help shape what you’d like your dream life to be exactly.
Make an action plan
Once you have an idea of what these goals and aspirations are, then you can figure out how to set out a tangible plan to reach them. Everyone’s action plan will look different, just like your goal list and that’s why it’s important to not compare yours to somebody else’s.
Take a look at your goal list and write out an action plan for the short-term, the mid-term and long-term goals. The action plan will include the actions you need to take everyday, every week or every month until you reach them. For instance, if you’re looking to save 1k in a 4 months span, you’ll need to save £250 each month. Or, if you’re looking to travel more (how about Montreal, Canada?), set a plan to research how exactly you can go about that. It could be working around your current job’s holiday days or changing careers completely to doing something remotely – and setting a time frame to sort this in.
Set a deadline
Deadlines are very crucial in goal setting and living your dream life. It’s all well and good in saying, ‘I’m going to buy a mansion’ or ‘go global with my brand’ but if you don’t put the actions or deadline in place, you’ll keep procrastinating and won’t get there.
Setting deadlines for each of your goals and writing a to-do list each day or every other day to ensure you’re staying focused and aligned with what you truly want. If you stay in alignment, manifest and are focused towards what you really want – the universe will bring it to you.
Create a budget
Every goal has some sort of financial backing to it, whether it’s saving for a car or booking a plane ticket. Money is unfortunately a huge part of life and often we need the financial support to reach goals such as opening a business. Although it doesn’t bring happiness, it does aid towards living the dream life you’re looking for.
Creating a budget can get you in a saving mindset for all of the goals you’re looking to achieve and make you more money savvy – which helps when trying to be successful. Look after your pennies and the pounds will come to you as they always say.
Expressing gratitude and keeping positive
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your dream life be. It’s important to not compare your first chapter to someone’s chapter five. We all move in life differently and we all achieve things at different times, and that’s okay and normal.
Keeping a positive mindset towards working and achieving your goals is vital. And, the best way to do this is to express gratitude and compliment yourself with every small achievement, leading towards your final goals. Every day, write down three things you’re grateful for in your life. They can be linked to your goals but they don’t have to be. They will make you realize you’re on your way to living your dream and fulfilled life.
Know it’s okay to have bad days and setbacks
This point is something a lot of us forget. The road to success and leading your dream life isn’t meant to be easy as the best things in life take hard work and dedication. And, that means, you will have bad days and setbacks. There will be days when nothing goes right, when you fail or when you want to give up and that’s okay, and completely normal.
It’s how you pull yourself up from that point is what really matters – and you will. They say you have a breakdown before a breakthrough, and that applies fully to this point. In 5 years time, you won’t even remember the bad day and the setback you had. Everything happens for a reason.
As much as living your dream life means working exceptionally hard and staying focused on your action plans, you still need to take breaks. Breaks are essential for taking care of your mental health and ensuring you don’t overwork yourself. This means, having a good sleeping routine, eating right, taking breaks away from work throughout the day and ensuring you switch off from it all after the day has ended. Constantly thinking about it can cause you to overwork, which can backfire on you. Additionally, you can then find yourself resenting the goals and what you’re doing – and make yourself ill too.
Keep a goal setting journal to measure progress
Goal setting journals link in with the point of an action plan and having a deadline. They’re a great visual way to keep track of your progress and what your goals are, and how well you’re doing.
Surround yourself with people who support your goals
In your life, you’re always going to have some sort of sceptics around you who won’t understand your goals and want you to think more realistically, and that’s okay. But, you don’t want to be focusing on them when you’re on route to living your dream life. Talk to the people who will support, encourage and boost you up about your goals. Surround yourself with the positivity needed, as you’ll find the whole process a lot easier, when people aren’t putting you down.
Have fun with it
Living your dream life is everything you’re looking to work for and that’s why the process of getting there should be fun and exciting. Enjoy working towards your goals, building your savings and the entire process of reaching everything you ever dreamed of. Life isn’t easy. It’s often our journey is what shapes us into the person we turn out to be.
Be grateful, keep positive and stay focused and your dream life could be closer than you think.

My tips for living a dream life, outside of your excellent advice, is work a little bit on it everyday.
My most recent example is in less than a year, I went from drawing stick figures to images that are getting mistaken for “prints”. My “secret”? Practicing everyday for 15 minutes. I didn’t want to do it everyday and sometimes I felt more frustrated afterwards, but the little effort resulted in big rewards!
Thanks for sharing your tip! Yes I agree that working on your project little by little can produce marvellous results if you persist.
